One by One

“One person inspiring another, transcending all differences—this is the basis of changing society at the most fundamental level.” – Daisaku Ikeda –

This is a project of empowerment. This blog is intended to tell the stories of people who are working for peace in their everyday lives. Peace as a concept is abstract, world peace, even more so. True peace, real peace can be found in the realities of our daily lives. We build peace in our hearts and inner lives in the way we think about our actions and plant those seeds when we take action. We plant the seeds of a fundamental peace in the daily life of individuals through our interactions with them. And most importantly, we must protect and foster these seeds until they grow into the firm reality of peace for all.

My aim with this blog is to change how we perceive peace and to humanise its meaning. Peace is not politicians deciding the kind of world we live in. Peace is simple as you and me, our community, creating through our dialogue, actions and thoughts, the currents towards peace. Our networks, projects, jobs, friendships are all tools that enable us to create the foundations for peace at every moment. I want to build a collection of stories of building peace in daily life that will act as an inspiration to all, and to remind ourselves that we have the power to build the world we want. A peaceful world that begins with us.

“Thus, it is up to us to construct a world without war. Whether we give up on this as an impossible goal, or whether we continue the challenge, however great the difficulties involved–on this the fate of the entire twenty-first century depends.”
– Daisaku Ikeda –
